FakeDM.app exports fictional Instagram conversations as PNG screenshots or animated videos. PNG shows the messages as still images; video shows their arrival with typing dots and sound. Screenshots are free without a watermark. Free videos include a watermark and an end card.
Choose a screenshot for an exchange read at once
A PNG suits a storyboard, a presentation slide or a short conversation you want the reader to see immediately. Timing does not matter in the image: the reader controls the pace.
For example, the giveaway template shows a follower asking how to enter and a brand explaining the conditions. As a screenshot, that exchange can illustrate a fictional campaign concept. If the chat is longer than one screen, the export produces a series of screenshots.
Choose video when the arrival of messages matters
Video suits a reveal, a short sketch or an announcement told through an exchange. A pause can change how a reply lands; typing dots show that another message is coming.
Use Play preview to check that each message stays readable. Videos export as MP4 with sound, or WebM on some browsers. The video guide explains the workflow from an editable template to the finished file.
Choose the aspect ratio separately
The export type and the shape of the output are separate choices. Story is 9:16, Feed is 4:5 and Square is 1:1. Each is 1080 pixels wide. Choose Story for a vertical scene, Feed for a taller feed image or Square for a compact composition.
Do not assume that a conversation fitting one shape will read equally well in another. A narrower or shorter visible area can change where messages appear. Preview the format you plan to publish.
Understand the watermark rules
PNG screenshots have no visible watermark. Free videos carry a small watermark and end with a short card. A paid video pack or Unlimited removes both; consult pricing for the current offers.
Choose the output based on what the scene needs, then check the downloaded file. All conversations made with the Instagram DM generator are mockups. Do not present them as authentic messages from someone who did not write them.
